In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources, spaces, or communities you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!) What supplemental things do you enjoy, read, use as research, connect with fellow fans on? We're looking for anything that adds to your enjoyment of your fandom(s). Wikis, web sites, videos, software, games, books, people, communities... anything!

I have a few communities and resources for different fandoms that I use! Most of them are for different small fandoms, but hopefully some other people will be interested! I really like [community profile] sutcliff_space  for general Rosemary Sutcliff fandom stuff, [personal profile] theoldguardkinkmeme  is a great kink meme for The Old Guard, and [community profile] fandomcalendar  is great for keeping track of fanwork exchanges and other fandom events. I also love this website's map of the ancient Roman world as a resource for historical fandoms or AUs or original work ancient Rome, and I love Fantasy Name Generators for writing original work and creating OCs in fanfic!

In your own space, Create something. It doesn’t have to just be the written word or a drawing. Creativity is much more inclusive. I enjoy making jewelry. Maybe you are into yarn/thread/fabric. Compose music? Create recipes? (Ooh this kinda reminded me, but I used to do some jewelry making too when I was younger and I had a lot of fun, I'd love to do that again!)

For this, I decided to post something I wrote as a wish fulfillment for [personal profile] jesseofthenorth , about a character being rescued after being out in the cold! <3 It's a little late for this challenge, but I'm glad I posted it tonight because we've had a huge snowstorm and about six inches of snow today, so I'm feeling very in the mood for this story!!

I don't know if you, Jesse, or any of my followers know about this fandom, but it's the show Turn: Washington's Spies! It's about a group of spies during the American Revolutionary War and is loosely based on the real-life Culper Ring. My favorite pairing (Anna Strong/Edmund Hewlett) is predictably tragic: she's a Patriot spy and he's a Redcoat officer... *cries* I'm sure you can guess how that turned out, but they were so so cute and soft together for a while there!!! Good old fashioned rivals/enemies-to-lovers :')

Some general info: They live in the town of Setauket, New York, and Hewlett lives in Whitehall, the house of the town magistrate, because he's the commander of the garrison there. He invites Anna to come stay there with him to protect her from another Redcoat who is creepy af and is also Hewlett's arch-nemesis throughout the show. Hewlett loves horses and astronomy and is a big nerd, and he and Anna have a really cute stargazing date in one episode. I hope that's enough of an intro to make you want to watch it lol, but I think that's all you really need to know for this story! It's just fluff and hurt/comfort!

Sorry for the ramble, read the story below! )

I might post this to AO3 in a few days after I tweak it a little...!

EDIT: Here's the edited version on AO3: read here <3

In your own space, make a list of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, and/or that you'd like someone to create or do for you.

I think my biggest wish is fanart of my fics!!! A few years ago, someone on Tumblr made fanart for me and it was the most exciting thing ever, but I think that was the only time that's happened... So, I really think I just want more art of my stories! Any fandom or original work!

I'm definitely going to go through the comments on the challenge post and see if I can fulfill anyone's wishes!

I love the prompt for today's challenge! In your own space, put some favorite characters into an AU, fuse some favorite canons together, talk about your favorite AU/fusion tropes, or tell us why AU/fusions aren’t your cup of tea.

I love AUs so much, and I love reading AUs that involve mythology, fairytales, and supernatural themes. I haven't written that kind of AU before, sadly, but I like writing fusions and crossovers between different fandoms, as well as fix-its and other canon-divergent AUs to explore what would've happened if something was a little different.

I'm gonna put some of my fave AU stories (plus my fave that I wrote) under the cut!

I'd love to try writing something similar to these AUs at some point, so maybe I'll make that another goal to try for this year!!!

I'm doing the [community profile] snowflake_challenge  again this year! Challenge #2 is: In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.

So, my goals are to write/finish the fanfic ideas I had from last year! I had a lot of ideas that I only started to write, for multiple different fandoms, and I also have a WIP for The Old Guard, Some Similar Experience, that has been taking an unfortunately long time for me to write. Another goal is to do more original writing.

More real-life goals are to do more cooking and baking, and to do lots of self-care in the next semester!

Challenge #8: In your own space, create a wishlist. Your wishlist can be anything between one and ten wishes as a rough guide.

Ooh this is an interesting challenge!! Here are my wishes (some of them very specific):

1. Fan art or podfic or remixes for any of my stories! (here on AO3) I would be so delighted with any kind of transformative works for my fics, you have no idea :D

2. I'd love recs for some communities about writing, reading, or history!

3. I'd also love recs for podcasts or documentaries about true crime or history, or about naval stuff specifically

4. Recs for journals/communities that talk about planning/organization (especially for people with ADHD)

That's all for my wishlist! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Snowflake Challenge #7: In your own space, create your own challenge.

I wanted to come up with something really creative and interesting for this, but I'm not feeling super creative atm :( But I did come up with something, and so my challenge is: Think of something you're grateful for, and write it in the comments! It can be as big or small as you want. I've been trying to find something I'm grateful for daily in the new year, so if you want to join me in doing that, please feel free :D

I'm grateful for warm baths, because of the long bath I took earlier tonight! I made it a real pamper evening tbh. I put on a face mask (not the kind that prevents disease, the kind that helps your skin! My mom was a little confused when I said I wanted to use a face mask for my bath lol XD ), soaked in the bath, and read a book, and then I put on some lotion and a fluffy robe and read some more. It was so relaxing and invigorating, and definitely something to be grateful for <3

Snowflake Challenge #6: In your own space, rec at least three fanworks that you didn't create.

I have so many to rec!! I've been lowkey hyperfocusing on The Old Guard lately, so several of these will be about that XD

The Old Guard )

The Eagle of the Ninth )

A goal is defined as the object of a person's ambition or effort. For this challenge, you are to make a goal or two or, well, as many as you wish to.

Do you want to write that fanfic that has been on your mind? Make that essay on the meta of your favorite fandom? Learn a new language? Read your stack of To Be Read books? Finally watch every episode of every version of The Twilight Zone?

In your own space, create some goals. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I have several goals for myself! I have two (or is it three now?!) WIPs I hope to finish and post soon, one of which I've been working on for quite a while; I want to start an original work story that I've been thinking about and planning lately; and I have some posts I really want to make on here! Specifically I want to make a post about the book The Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis, because I just got it for Christmas and it's delightful so far (though I'm a very slow reader) and I want to talk about it, possibly a post about my Franklin planner that came in the mail a few days ago, and another post about Yuletide for here and for my Tumblr!

Another goal unrelated to fandom is to get part of my room cleaned by the end of this weekend. I've been working on going through my dresser drawers and getting rid of clothes I don't wear anymore, and it's been a bit of a slow process but I feel like I could finish it tomorrow, hopefully! As a larger goal, I want to organize/clean my whole room before school starts again.

[Bad username or unknown identity: snowflake_challenge ]#3: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

In your own space, tell us who, from one of your fandoms, would you most want to have dinner with (or tea, or a random afternoon visit), And why? This could be a creator, an actor, a costumer, a set designer, a director, a character, a composer, anybody! What would you talk about? What are you dying to know?

Hmmm, I love this question! I'd really like to have dinner with Rosemary Sutcliff, I think! :D I'd want to just talk to her about life tbh, and how her life influenced her writing...

I'd also love to have dinner with Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli and talk to them about Joe and Nicky from The Old Guard! They're my favorite characters from that movie, both as individuals and as a couple, and I love how involved the actors were in creating that.

We can just have a big dinner party together, and everyone can get to know each other! :D
