silverinkCharacter building for this original story I'm writing! I wrote this pretty quickly, but I feel like it came pretty easily once I figured out where it was going lol!
IN THE FORUM:
The sunlight flooding through the forum was bright and golden, and Lucretia Marcella walked past the tall columns with her arm in her new husband’s. She had married Marcus Turius Marcellus only ten days ago, and it still felt wonderfully new for both of them. He was a soldier, a respected general, and he only had another five days before he had to return to his posting after taking a long leave for the wedding. She would miss him desperately, but she didn’t want to think about it now while they still had time together.
She squeezed his arm, and he looked over and smiled at her, as bright and happy as she was.
One of the market stalls was showcasing a display of fine, beaded jewelry. Lucretia already had a collection of necklaces and bracelets and earrings, but these were beautiful and unique. Marcus saw it too and glanced at her inquiringly, already knowing she’d want to look, and she grinned and kissed his cheek.
“Oh, these would suit you.” He held up a matching necklace and set of earrings, made of pearls and gold, and she gasped. They were stunning when she tried them on, and she let Marcus buy them for her. Then, she saw a bracelet that was just a simple gold band, and held it up to show him.
“For you, my dear?” she suggested. When she closed it on his wrist, it fit perfectly, and he smiled.
"Now we both have something to remember each other by," he teased, and she laughed, pleased. She squeezed his hand and let her fingers brush over the bracelet, glad he would have something tangible of her when he had to leave.
This was fun!!! I already kinda had an idea of the characters in my mind, but I think this helped me get to know them a little more. Absolutely lovestruck dorks, both of them! :') I feel like they knew each other quite a while before this, maybe since they were kids, but they only just got married. Also, I think we can guess where some of my inspiration comes from, because he is giving me some Sutcliff Protagonist Vibes...
