silverink | Another Tumblr Ficlet

Here's another ficlet I posted on my Old Guard sideblog on Tumblr for that prompt meme, and I just wanted to post it here, even though nobody probably knows this fandom... It's a movie I found because it stars one of the actors from The Old Guard, and it's called Tutti I Santi Giorni - it's a really sweet, funny, romantic Italian movie about a couple trying to have a baby, and even though that doesn't sound very interesting, I really loved it! Maybe I'll make a post about it sometime...

The ficlet is about the main couple early on in their relationship!

Guido/Antonia

By the time Guido had finished his shift at the hotel—unusually quiet for a weekend—it had started raining. It seemed to have been raining for a long time, but Guido realized he’d probably been too engrossed in his most recent reread of the Odyssey to notice.

Just like Odysseus, he struggled through the long, watery journey home, and was completely soaked through when he arrived at his apartment. A voice called out from somewhere inside, and Guido froze for a moment before he realized—it was Antonia.

The beautiful singer had spent the night with him for the second time last night. He’d made her dinner this time, and they’d gone to bed together, and she’d seemed so tired by the time he had to go to work that he offered to let her sleep there. He hadn’t expected her to stay the whole night, and it was a wonderful surprise.

“It’s just me, Antonia,” he called out, and she stepped out of his bedroom with the sheet wrapped around her shoulders. Her hair was beautifully tousled and messy, and he couldn’t help grinning at her.

“Oh you’re soaked, Guido. You didn’t take an umbrella? The weather said it was supposed to rain all night, and all day today.” She grinned back, and took his coat from him. “Come here, you need to warm up.”

Antonia pulled him closer and kissed him, and Guido kissed back, feeling heart-poundingly giddy. As she drew him back into the bedroom, Guido, feeling oddly bold, said, “Antonia, would you—perhaps, like to spend tonight here too? I don’t have work tonight, and—”

“Yes.” She kissed him again, her eyes sparkling and happy. “Guido, yes, I’d love to.”
